Free FIFA Fan Festivals in Toronto and Vancouver are giving fans a stadium-style atmosphere to watch every World Cup match — and thousands turned out to roar Canada on in the opener.
You don't need a match ticket to feel the World Cup in Canada. Official FIFA Fan Festivals in both host cities are broadcasting matches live on giant screens, with music, food and a stadium-style atmosphere — and entry is free.
Toronto — Fort York & The Bentway
The Toronto FIFA Fan Festival opened on June 11 at Fort York and The Bentway (250 Fort York Blvd) and runs through the Round of 32 in early July. Thousands packed the site to watch Canada's historic opener against Bosnia & Herzegovina, turning downtown Toronto into a sea of red.
Vancouver — the PNE
On the west coast, the Vancouver FIFA Fan Festival at the PNE runs for 28 days, broadcasting more than 70 matches across the festival grounds. Gates opened to long lineups as fans claimed their spot for a month of football.
Both festivals offer free general entry, with premium ticketed viewing also available — a chance to share in the tournament whether or not you're inside the stadiums.
